The Legal Aid Society of New York Honors Microsystems with Pro Bono Award Print

3 November, 2008Downers Grove, IL – The Legal Aid Society, a New York City-based legal organization that provides access to justice for low-income children, families and individuals,  honored Microsystems as a recipient of the Society’s 2008 Pro Bono Awards during the 2008 Pro Bono Awards and Law Firm Recognition Ceremony on Tuesday, October 7, 2008.

"The Legal Aid Society accomplished a major technology transformation during the last year and Microsystems provided invaluable assistance," said Edward Braunstein, Director of Management Information Services for the Society. "We were pleased to recognize the outstanding contributions of Microsystems, under the leadership of Tom O'Sullivan, CEO, and Jeff Griffin, IT Manager, during our Pro Bono Awards Ceremony when awards were presented by Chief Judge Judith S. Kaye, the Chief Judge of the State of New York."

Microsystems provided document conversion services (WordPerfect to Word) and Knowledge Partnership software and services to support The Legal Aid Society’s technology upgrade.

“Microsystems is proud to provide the Legal Aid Society with Knowledge Partnership software and services in the hopes that it will enhance and support the quality of legal assistance that it provides,” said Tom O’Sullivan, Chief Executive Office of Microsystems.

Microsystems Knowledge Partnership software, support and services solve urgent document problems, help avoid potentially damaging document practices and assist in the development of a law firm’s in-house document diagnosis, forensics and architecting. Knowledge Partnership includes four major components:

  1. Document quality control and document clean-up software
  2. Microsoft Word skills assessment software
  3. High-end document support services
  4. Educational services          

About The Legal Aid Society

The Legal Aid Society is the nation's oldest and largest provider of legal services to the indigent. Founded in 1876, the Society provides a full range of civil legal services as well as criminal defense work, and juvenile rights representation in Family Court. Itsprpo core service is to provide free legal assistance to New Yorkers who live at or below the poverty level and cannot afford to hire a lawyer when confronted with a legal problem.
