London-based Trilantic has announced a unique tie up with US audio and video search analytics outfit Nexidia to provide law firms and legal departments with a significantly enhanced disclosure service. Electronic disclosure service provider Trilantic operates throughout the European Union and helps to gather and present vast quantities of data for customers, such as regulators investigating a corporate or a litigation team examining evidence for a case. Until now, audio evidence such as voice recordings have typically required fee earners to listen at great length for relevant information, or send the recordings to an agent to be transcribed at significant cost. The joint venture announced last week (19 November) between Trilantic and Atlanta-headquartered Nexidia will see fee earners able to instruct the combined group to use Nexidia’s software to search for certain words and phrases as part of the disclosure process. It is expected that the technology will be able to process hundreds or thousands of hours of content in a few days as opposed to several weeks or months, reducing the costs of reviewing audio and video content by as much as 80%. Trilantic’s managing director Nigel Murray said: “Having worked in the past on matters where voice recordings were transcribed at great expense to enable lawyers to search for key evidence, partnering with Nexidia provides an easier to use, quicker, and much less expensive option.” Vice president of legal market for Nexidia, Jeff Schlueter, said: “We’re pleased to have a partner in Europe that recognises the significance of audio content in eDiscovery, compliance, and regulatory matters.” According to Murray, the partners have already conducted two demonstrations of the product and in both instances the client said they would use the new and improved service when they had a case that required it. |
