Microsystems Boosts UK Client Base by 50% Print
Written by Caroline Grimshaw

Microsystems has boosted its UK client base by 50% this year including the recent addition of top 20 firm Simmons & Simmons, which becomes the company’s twelfth new UK client since January.

The Chicago-based document software provider has 35 UK law firm clients, including many of the magic circle and top 10. It attributes the significant recent boost in UK activity to its new UK office opened this year. The company, which formerly had a reseller arrangement with Tikit, set up a three-person satellite office in January.

The increase in business is also boosting the company’s turnover and chief executive officer Tom O’Sullivan said: “The UK is a growing market for us and revenue is up by 50%.”

The results come despite the increasingly tough economic environment. However O’Sullivan told LTJ that business had been hit nonetheless, commenting: “The downturn has affected business and we would have had even better success if it hadn’t been for that.”

Elsewhere December also saw Microsystems win Houston headquartered Vinson & Elkins and North Carolina firm Robinson Bradshaw & Hinson as new clients. The firms, together with Simmons & Simmons, have taken on a mixture of Microsystems’ Knowledge Partnership and D3 software.

The news comes as Microsystems this month announced the release of new functionality for D3, the company’s document drafting and content management software. The new functions include allowing the creator of a document to draft it directly from the Word 2007 ribbon or Word 2003 toolbar; apply styles numbering and a table of contents directly from the ribbon and select an author, office location and language via the ribbon.
