USDOJ Expands Use of iCONECT for Web-Based Document Review Print
Written by Jeremy Hill

The Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys (EOUSA), a component of the U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ), is expanding its use of iCONECT Development, LLC’s award-winning web-based hosting and review technology with an upgrade to iCONECT’s eXT platform and Unicode-compatible software release. The upgrade will enable the EOUSA to add more users and store and review more documents, including those in foreign languages such as Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Punjabi, and Russian. iCONECT’s flagship nXT platform was originally deployed in the EOUSA's Litigation Technology Service Center (LTSC) in February 2008 to facilitate electronic discovery review for all U.S. Attorney offices.

The nXT and eXT platforms both provide extensive end-user review tools including Unicode compatibility — search, edit, organize, and review documents in over 250 Unicode-based languages. However, while nXT includes embedded database technology to meet the needs of firms that don’t have database software, eXT is designed to work with a firm’s existing Oracle system so the firm can leverage its existing IT infrastructure, processes and staff to optimize back-end data workflow and customize the system to meet specific requirements. For example, staff can load data directly into Oracle using the firm’s existing import/export tools, access data via third-party applications such as Crystal Reports, and set up Oracle server clustering for redundancy and greater capacity.

“iCONECT software has proven to be a reliable and robust review platform that can support a wide network of branch offices, outside counsel and consultants,” said Ian Campbell, Chief Operating Officer of iCONECT Development, LLC. “Our flexible and scalable solutions also make it easy to upgrade when the time is right. We look forward to continuing our strong and successful relationship with all our clients, both in the government and private sector.”

All iCONECT software provides advanced search options, user metrics reports, a native file viewer, e-mail grouping tools for faster review, Unicode compatibility, and secure web-based access so that counsel and staff located in multiple locations can review the same documents for efficient collaboration. iCONECT security features have repeatedly met and exceeded government requirements. All these features have enabled government agencies to more effectively manage multi-state disputes and investigations since deploying iCONECT software last year, saving them time and money.

Firms can choose the iCONECT platform that best fits their infrastructure requirements: iCONECTnXT as a self-contained product with embedded database technology; iCONECTnXT connected to your Microsoft SQL Server (NASDAQ:MSFT); or iCONECTeXT connected to your Oracle system (NASDAQ:ORCL).
